I have spent the last 8 years working in the communications field: first as a journalist covering feminist stories, and later in creative digital roles. My experience includes working with the United Nations as well as non-profit feminist organizations.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Women Deliver: Social Media Specialist

September 2024 - present / New York, US (remote)

I manage Women Deliver’s social media channels (Instagram: 45K, X: 138K, Facebook: 96K, LinkedIn: 57K), creating content that advances sexual and reproductive health and rights, combats anti-rights narratives, and tackles the climate crisis. In a freelance capacity, I design graphics, schedule posts, monitor engagement, manage community interactions, support website content (CMS), and oversee the social media editorial calendar.

UN Women: Visual Communications Consultant

September 2023 - October 2024 / New York, US (remote)

  • I was the responsible for overseeing and producing visual content for the organization’s global social media channels, including Instagram (2M followers), X (2M followers), Facebook (2M followers), LinkedIn (1M followers).

  • Created diverse visual assets including GIFs, infographics, and explainers, and supported editorial and web design. Lead visual communications for main campaigns such as International Women’s Day and 16 Days of Activism.

  • Developed the organization’s first-ever comprehensive visual communication guidelines for social media.

  • Acted as the central coordinator for visual communications. I led efforts across regional and country offices worldwide, providing guidance and ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging across all platforms.

UNESCO: Communications Consultant

  • Led communications and outreach/advocacy strategies for World Teachers’ Day 2022.

  • Developed, produced, and coordinated the dissemination of diverse communications materials, including brochures, press releases, social media packs, invitations, web content, translations, video scripts, speeches, and articles.

  • Served as the communications focal point for the 2022 UNESCO-Hamdan Prize, coordinating communications with the laureates and ensuring their message aligned with UNESCO's values

Equality Now: Communications & Marketing Officer

November 2021 - May 2022 / August 2023 / USA & UK (remote)

  • Led communications and advocacy strategies for field work in Latin America, focusing on ending sexual violence and expanding reproductive rights.

  • Successfully secured international coverage and support from regional organizations for groundbreaking cases, such as Brisa de Angulo vs. Bolivia.

  • Pitched journalists, tracked media coverage, organized press conferences, and maintained a comprehensive database of Spanish-speaking reporters using Meltwater.

  • Oversaw the planning and execution of the editorial calendar, supported the management of social media channels and website content (CMS), and served as graphic designer for the organization.

  • Cultivated and managed relationships with non-financial supporters, including overseeing Mailchimp journeys to enhance engagement with this segment.

  • Led internal communications efforts, utilizing project management software (Slack, Monday.com), intranet, and Google Workspace.

  • Developed and nurtured relationships with corporate partners, resulting in successful fundraising and awareness campaigns, such as the Tatty Devine x Equality Now partnership, which raised funds and awareness on sexist laws around the world.

  • Supported Equality Now’s work to advance policy results for an Intersectional Feminist Universal Declaration on Digital Rights.

UNESCO: Associate Project Officer / Consultant

January 2020 - November 2021 / Paris, France / UNESCO Education Sector (during Q1 and Q2 2020, I was an intern and then a consultant).

  • Developed visual content for UNESCO’s social media channels, reaching a global audience of millions (Instagram: 3.2M, X: 3.7M, Facebook: 1.8M, LinkedIn: 2M). Many campaigns were amplified by other UN agencies, including the main UN account in all official languages and the Secretary-General, António Guterres.

  • Crafted creative social media packs for campaigns, relevant international days, and events in English, Spanish, and French (e.g. Int. Day of Women and Girls in Science, World Refugee Day, Keeping girls in the picture, etc). Some of these events are key for UNESCO, such as Int. Day of Education.

  • Designed an evergreen gallery of visuals/GIFs for each thematic area across the whole education sector, covering topics such as gender equality in education, literacy and adult learning, school violence and bullying, education in emergencies, among others.

  • Provided graphic design support to UNESCO's Regional and Country Offices, creating impactful infographics, editing videos, designing report covers, translating materials, and developing multimedia content for the intranet and newsletters.

  • Actively contributed as a collaborator of the Education Wikipedia project. At the time of my appointment, there were no existing Wikipedia articles written in Spanish for the sector.

WIEGO: Digital Communications Officer

January 2021 - November 2021/l UK & Canada (remote)

  • Strengthened WIEGO’s digital communication strategies to enhance global engagement with grassroots organizations advocating for women in the informal economy, including domestic workers, waste pickers, street vendors, and home-based workers.

  • Elaborated high-quality website content (CMS), newsletters, publications, videos, and other audiovisual materials.

  • Successfully increased WIEGO's social media audience and global online presence, driving Twitter profile views from 800 in February 2020 to 20K in February 2021. Provided regular analytics on social media outreach, conducted training sessions for program teams, and contributed to monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

  • Led multilingual daily content production and the digital and social media strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage WIEGO's digital presence and maximize impact.

  • Owned the editorial calendar and managed social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) using tools such as Hootsuite, WordPress, TweetDeck, and BrandMentions, streamlining workflows and enhancing audience engagement.
